About Us
James Coutier is a graduate of the Royal
Horticultural Society in Surrey, where he won the “Engelfield
Trophy” and “The Gardeners Company Prize” given by the Worshipful
Company of Gardeners of London for the best all round horticultural
ability for his two years at the RHS. Whilst there he also worked on
the landscaping of the prestigious Bicentenary Glasshouse.
James
recently successfully created his own business “Coutier Landscapes”
specialising in the restoration and maintenance of gardens in the
London area. In France, James’ career in landscape gardening began
with a Brevet Technicien Supérieur at the agricultural college of
Lyon-Dardilly. He worked on a wide range of projects with a leading
Lyon company, specialising in roof gardens and terraces, including
the Modern International Centre.
He hopes to develop his great interest in fashionable wall gardens and restoration work.
Hazel Coutier graduated at the Royal Horticultural Society garden at Wisley, completing the two year practical diploma with distinction. She has worked in many plant departments, and gained a comprehensive knowledge of plant care and landscaping on completion of her diploma. Hazel was appointed Senior Gardener in the Trials Department at Wisley, responsible for the Floral Trials, in particular for two long term trials of Dahlia and Dianthus.
Her work at Wisley has often brought her into contact with television teams and celebrity gardeners. Hazel has cooperated on the making of garden programmes and the staging of RHS flower shows such as Hampton Court and Wisley.
Hazel’s love of horticulture and gardens began with a Higher National Diploma at Auchincruive in Scotland. Thereafter, she completed the Craftsman Gardener Diploma with the National Trust for Scotland at
Threave House and Gardens where she was nominated Plant Identification student of the year.
